Being Vegan is a lifestyle and way that you cary yourself. Plant-Based it what you eat for a particular reason. Most people who choose to be plant-based are doing it for their health. Sure some are doing it for animals or the planet, but most people choose plant-based for their health. The reason why is that a Vegan is not just a food choice, but the way you live. A Vegan doesn't take, eat or use anything from an animal to live their life. We live our lives without hurting anyone else to live it. We only buy food that is plant-based, we only buy clothing that is not made from animals skin or fur, we only use personal care products that are made without animal ingredients and that are not tested on animals, we capture and rehome and don't kill insects, etc. So first thing is that you need to know who you are.
Getting enough protein is easier than you think. Most people don’t realize that protein is in almost everything we eat! You also don't need as much protein as everyone says.
Vegan sources of protein are, split peas, lentils, kidney beans, chickpeas, tofu, tempeh, seitan and other meat substitutes, plant-based meats, nuts, seeds and quinoa.
Plants are the best way to get iron, from dark green leafy greens, vegetables like beats, beans and lentils, seeds and nuts. You can also take vitamins and find supplements in cereals and plant-milks and orange juice. Vitamin C supports in the absorption of iron.
Don't be fooled by the dairy industry marketing attempts, to convince you that you need some crazy amount of calcium in your diet. In fact, cows milk is quite toxic to the human body, is very acidic and leaches calcium from your bones. You can get all the calcium you need on a Vegan diet. Some great sources of calcium are dark-green leafy greens, vegetables, baked beans, black beans, dried figs, tahini, almonds, as well as this most plant milks. Vitamin D assists the absorption of calcium. you can get your fill of Vitamin D by spending about 15 minutes in the sun every day.
